Our sustainable funding guidelines

  • Projects submitted to 48percent.org must have a sustainability outlook, with the goal of becoming independent of external funding over time.
  • If that is not yet possible, applicants and partners should show a diversified fundraising strategy, ideally involving multiple funding sources beyond 48percent.org.
  • If a large amount of funding is required, we expect the applicant to actively seek out multiple funding partners.
  • For multi-phase projects, we want to understand the overall vision, even if funding is only requested for one specific phase.
  • If the project is part of a series of consecutive phases, we would like to discuss the broader goal and how each step builds on the last.
  • We can connect partners with other potential collaborators or funders.

Our funding process

What happens when a potential new partner fills in the contact form?

  1. We contact the person or organization, introduce ourselves, and get to know them better.
  2. A due diligence process follows, where we ensure that every new potential partner is trustworthy.
  3. If our and the project’s missions align, we send a funding application form.
  4. After the funding application has been submitted by the applicant, the request is discussed internally.
  5. Potential questions will be sent to the applicant.
  6. Based on alignment, clarity of request, and available funding, the funding decision is made.
