Connecting impoverished students with unconnected.org

This project focuses on facilitating digital learning in schools in Indonesia by supplying the necessary hardware and connectivity.

Project status: Ongoing

About the project

This project is aimed at supporting digital learning for students in Indonesia. With help of 48percent.org, The unconnected.org are supplying 30 laptops, 10 MiFi wireless connectivity devices with 2 years 4G internet connectivity. Additionally, Microsoft Educational licenses will be supplied to enable students to use the laptops as part of their learning experience. These laptops will be given to the Pojok Elementary School in Sleman, Yogyakarta on the Indonesian island of Java.

Updates

Together with the unconnected, we wanted to provide the Pojok Elementary School in Sleman, Yogyakarta, Indonesia with 30 laptops. With these laptops, both teachers and students will receive training in how to connect to the internet, use the devices and software, and learn how to complete their remote work. Unfortunately the laptops that were shipped from the UK to Indonesia have not reached the school, and are being shipped back to the UK. Unconnected.org is determined to make sure that the school gets the laptops they were promised, so they are currently looking into alternative ways to get the laptops to their destination.
